Understanding nature, life cycles and food production is vitally important for children’s development.
“We could never have loved the earth so well if we had had no childhood in it”
– George Eliot (The Mill on the Frost)
In all our Queanbeyan & District Preschool Association Preschools we provide children with daily opportunities to engage with nature and participate in ongoing playground garden projects.
We strive to grow seasonal vegetables and herbs with the children and we encourage children to help look after our garden and playgrounds daily (planting, watering, weeding and cutting) as well as feeding our worm farm and adding to our compost bins.
Children regularly have the opportunity to sample and incorporate the garden produce we have grown together into delicious shared cooking experiences in all our learning programs.
